Eric Lopez had covertly purchased the ring to propose to his girlfriend, whom he dwells with along using their infant, ABC station KGO reported.

But when the Valley Fire used up their apartment building last week, Lopez said he was frightened the ring was likewise ruined.

"I began getting stressed and upset because I knew I had a ring in the home, and she did not understand," Lopez told KGO. "Pretty much all week, that is what was in my own head: 'The ring, the ring. Hopefully, it is great.'"

Lopez recalled he concealed the ring behind their telly, so when he eventually had the opportunity to go to the ashes of the building, he instantly went direct for the remains of the TV stand and began sifting through the debris.

"The TV was still standing, and that I see a small box in addition to it, and so I mentioned, 'Oh, that is a ring!'" he said.

He added that when he opened the carton, the ring was still complete and that he could not believe it was in the same area he left it.

Though the secret is now out from the carton, Lopez said he nonetheless desires to surprise Lopez using a suitable suggestion. He really wants to ensure it is specific, but reconstructing their lives will need to come first, he explained.

ABC News wasn't instantly successful in reaching Lopez and Perez for added opinion.
